2018 PBLA Shrimp Boil + Golf Tournament

With over 1,000 people in attendance, 800 pounds of shrimp consumed, and 45 kegs of beer floated, the 2018 Permian Basin Landmen’s Association Shrimp Boil at The Bar was one for the record books! It was a beautiful day outside, and got a little hot, but things were cool under the big event tent where everyone feasted.

PBLA Shrimp Boil Under The Tent - 2018 PBLA Shrimp BoilEven more than last year, it was plain to see that spirits are high in Midland and everyone was enjoying themselves. We were happy to sponsor and participate yet again, and owe a big thank you to the folks at PBLA for putting on such a fantastic event.

Eric Ashley, Richard Hines - 2018 PBLA Shrimp BoilThe iLandMan team loaded up early the next morning and headed out to Hogan Park for the Golf Tournament. Armed with coffee, cigars, drinks, and some nice giveaways, the iLandMan team got the tent set up for another great event. We couldn’t believe how cold and windy it was, but that didn’t stop 640 golfers from coming out to enjoy the festivities!

PBLA Golfers, Tom Wilson, Richard Hines, TJ Westerhaus 9 - 2018 PBLA Golf TournamentAs if there weren’t enough local legends and superstar landmen around the course, former Major League Baseball star Jose Canseco was on site, smashing golf balls and signing autographs!

Richard Hines, Jose Canseco, TJ Westerhaus - 2018 PBLA Golf TournamentWith plenty of food and fun, it was another great day for the folks in Midland, courtesy of the PBLA.

Look for the iLandMan team next in booth #1519 at Summer NAPE in August at the George R. Brown Convention Center.

2018 OCAPLTA Symposium

The 11th Annual OCAPLTA Symposium was held in the Minders School of Business at Oklahoma City University. President of the OCAPLTA, Kelley Newkirk Konarik and her team did a great job hosting the event. The lineup of presenters covered a wide range of topics that were educational and entertaining.

Tiffany Patterson, Kelley Konarik - 2018 OCAPLTA SymposiumThe first presentation was given by Meredith A. Wegener, a Professor and the Director of the Graduate Energy Programs at Oklahoma City University covering the topic of the ever evolving industry. It was a great start to the morning to hear from someone so knowledgeable and from the hosting University.

The next presentation was given by Doug Sandridge an Energy Consultant for EnergyPrecis. Mr. Sandridge was delightful and presented on how natural gas, wind, solar and other renewables generate electricity.  He also discussed how ‘green energy’ is not a clean as the we are lead to believe. One fun take away fact was that if you leveled the avian mortality across all types of energy sources, house cats would still be the leading cause of death to birds!

The Keynote Speaker during lunch was Brett Hutton. Mr. Hutton is a Leadership Author and Coach. He presented on the importance of communication and collaboration as a  necessary foundation. If a company is to survive and thrive it must start with their culture. I enjoyed his outlook, that people work best in an environment where they are heard and understood, versus a fear based, competitive environment. When you feel like you are being recognized for your unique gifts and talents you have the courage to thrive in your company.  Collaboration can only happen when there is communication. So stop… collaborate and listen!

The afternoon started off with Joseph Dancy, the Executive Director of Oil and Gas at the University of Oklahoma College of Law. Mr. Dancy spoke about the “Ten Technological Issues Impacting Shale Development”. It was nice to be informed on the new issues that are arising in the ever evolving drilling and fracking process.

Kenton Price who is a professor of Law at OU presented on an “Oilfield Drone Project” that took place in west Texas.  He also presented on the laws and bylaws of flying a drone. Companies are now considering this type of technology to monitor activity on their pipeline ROW’s, easements and drill sites. It was a very entertaining speech that contained useful information for those companies looking to advance their technology or those of us who just want to fly a drone!

Kenton Brice, Joseph Dancy, Tiffany Patterson - 2018 OCAPLTA SymposiumThe afternoon ended with a speech from Scott Stone about “Oil Patch Ethics”. He discussed the by-laws of NALTA and the code of ethics. NALTA is a great resource and network to assist those who are looking to better themselves and get continual education in an ever evolving industry. I liked how Mr. Stone posed the question to the audience: “What and who is your compass?” It is always good to check in with yourself and review your own standards because at the end of the day we all want to do our best.

Tiffany Patterson, Project Manager - iLandManThe day gave me a lot to think about and take away. I find more and more in life, it isn’t just a ‘you are with us or against us’ like we sometimes feel, being a part of the oil and gas industry because even ‘green’ isn’t clean. It is about doing what is ethical and right, using tools like research to uncover the truth and resources like NALTA to help us stay accountable. We won’t always have all the answers, but I hope you find yourself in a collaborative environment where you can communicate effectively, have the ability to continually learn, grow and thrive!

2018 HAPL South Texas Social

What do barbecue, beer, and a gigantic armor-plated armadillo have in common? The 2018 HAPL South Texas Social at Goode’s Armadillo Palace!

We had a great time at this event in Houston this March as hundreds of landmen and friends gathered for a night of relaxation and fun. iLandMan and host of sponsors helped to provide food, drink, and tons of nice door prizes and giveaways for the crowd to enjoy.

Evan Villarruel, Diane Snyder, Adam Chapman - 2018 HAPL South Texas SocialThe Armadillo Palace really is an amazing venue, with some beautiful indoor and outdoor entertaining spaces. Thought it was a bit dreary outside, that didn’t seem to put a damper on the party.

NAPE Summit – 2018

NAPE Summit 2018 in Houston, TX was the one of the biggest NAPE shows we have seen in years! With over 12,000 attendees and nearly 700 exhibitor booths, there was a buzz of excitement in the air about the state of the oil and gas industry. What a way to celebrate 25 years of NAPE with oil and gas professionals from around the word!

iLandMan Booth Full Of Visitors - NAPE Summit 2018The main aisle of the George R. Brown Convention Center was jam packed all day Thursday and Friday as people visited the various booths looking for deals, investigating software and services, or enjoying a show from the Elvis impersonator with his Cadillac. (We’re very sad that we didn’t get a picture of it!) As always, we enjoyed visits to the iLandMan booth from clients and friends, and were again proud to have 25 current clients with booths of their own at the show.

2017 HAPL Golf Tournament

The 55th annual Houston Association of Professional Landmen Golf Tournament has come and gone and we were lucky enough to have another absolutely beautiful day for all of the action. Despite having some serious flooding during Hurricane Harvey, the grounds at Kingwood Country Club were looking great and the hundreds of golfers and sponsors that came out were amazed by the hard work that had been done to get ready.

TJ Westerhaus, 10 Golfers, Richard Hines - 2017 HAPL Golf Tournament

As usual the iLandMan cooking team arrived early with our trailer full of supplies and got set up with a crowd gathering on the driving range right behind us. We started the morning out with some hot Starbucks coffee, donuts, and kolaches for the early birds, and after the golfers rolled out to tee off, Vice President Richard Hines lit the fire on his giant cooking pot and started to work on his famous jambalaya!

TJ Westerhaus, 6 Golfers, Richard Hines - 2017 HAPL Golf Tournament

Spindletap Brewery was on site again and we were VERY happy to see them set up right next to us, serving some delicious beers to enjoy with our jambalaya. The cigars seemed to get picked up even faster than usual, and the jambalaya pot was picked clean! We had hundreds of golfers stop by the tent and enjoyed visiting with everyone yet again.

4 Golfers, TJ Westerhaus - 2017 HAPL Golf Tournament

It was another successful event and as always, our hat goes off to the folks at the HAPL and Kingwood Country Club for running things so smoothly. We are looking forward to 2018 already!

This will probably be our last event for this year, but look for us in booth #2425 at NAPE Summit 2018 in Houston in February.

2017 PBLA Eric Hanson Memorial Sporting Clay Shoot

This year’s PBLA Eric Hanson Memorial Sporting Clay Shoot began with a cold and foggy morning out at Jake’s Clays in Midland, TX… but that didn’t stop over 700 shooters from showing up to make it the biggest clay shoot that the PBLA has ever had! The Ted Walters team was setup bright and early with their custom cooking trailer fixing a delicious breakfast for the first batch of participants.

Jeremy Wheat, Reggie Tidmore, John Maddox, Terry Boyd, David Green - 2017 PBLA Clay Shoot

It was fun getting to talk to everyone as shooters came to and from the course all day for their flights. There was cowboy coffee courtesy of the guys at Tomahawk Land Resources, and even some additional shooting fun with the team from Dudley Land Services. They had a very creative setup with some futuristic Nerf Guns and custom made targets offering participants the chance to show off their shooting skills and maybe win a Big Green Egg!

Three Nerf Gun Shooters - 2017 PBLA Clay Shoot

Our Marketing Director Adam was onsite for the iLandMan team giving out swag and prizes all day. He also enjoyed shooting in the afternoon flight with Scott Martin and a few of the guys from Mongoose Energy, one of our newest iLandMan customers. Adam reported that he did his best shooting in three years of going to this event, but sheepishly declined to admit exactly how many clays he hit.

Cory Wilson, Scott Martin, Adam Chapman, Josh - 2017 PBLA Clay Shoot

A few kegs of ice cold beer (after shooting of course) and over 100 prize guns capped off another year of fun for this PBLA tradition.  A big thank you to our host, Jake’s Clays, and all of the participating companies, sponsors, and especially the volunteer team from the PBLA.

Look for the iLandMan team next month at the 2017 HAPL Golf Tournament at the Kingwood Country Club in Kingwood, TX.

2017 NALTA Annual Conference

Moody Gardens was home to the National Association of Lease and Title Analysts Annual Conference last week in Galveston, TX. Although the town was not hit directly by Hurricane Harvey the local economy has seen an impact due to less people traveling for leisure, so this event was a much needed boost for the area. The conference was put on with the support of various local chapters throughout the United States and various exhibitors.  As an exhibitor, iLandMan was proud to support the continuing education for those looking to brush up and expand their knowledge about the oil and gas industry. It was a great opportunity to hear from amazing speakers throughout the week.

Michael McElroy Prsentation - 2017 NALTA Annual Conference

We loved having the opportunity to meet new faces, visit with industry colleagues, and catch up with iLandMan clients. This collaborative environment was conducive to forming great new relationships and networking. We appreciated the ability to educate analysts and other industry leaders about how iLandMan can help them organize and streamline their business practices.

Sarah Caldwell, Rimrock, Betty Hodge, Tiffany Patterson - 2017 NALTA Annual Conference

The NALTA organization did a wonderful job providing various events throughout the week. The Presidential Welcome Reception and Social was a blast with great food, dancing and music. They even provided karaoke for those who wanted to beat the heat and be entertained inside.

Tiffany Patterson Karaoke - 2017 NALTA Annual Conference

The Murder Mystery Dinner was wonderfully done and so entertaining. Everyone truly enjoyed themselves as evidenced by the amount of laughter that could be heard. Audience members could send someone from their table up on stage to be interrogated for a ‘fee’. This gave them an opportunity to help Hurricane Harvey victims and comically embarrass their friends and coworkers!

Tiffany Patterson With Murder Mystery Cast - 2017 NALTA Annual Conference

iLandMan had a wonderful time participating in all of the events. We are grateful for the opportunity to actively contribute to bettering the oil and gas industry as part of NALTA’s continuous endeavor to educate and elevate its members. We had wonderful time and look forward to next year’s conference!

2017 LAPL Membership Kickoff Party

Friends, football, food, and fun all came together last Monday for the 2017 Lafayette Association of Professional Landmen Membership Kickoff Party. It was a packed house at The Grouse Room here in Lafayette.

LAPL Kickoff Party 14 - The Grouse Room - Lafayette, LA

The annual event offered folks the opportunity to mix and mingle, renew their LAPL memberships, listen to some great live music, and most importantly… watch some New Orleans Saints football!

LAPL Kickoff Party 15 - The Grouse Room - Lafayette, LA

iLandMan was happy to be a sponsor for this great event, and some of our team members were there to enjoy the festivities. Door prizes were given out at each commercial break making for non-stop action throughout the entire game. There was also a cash prize football pool done each quarter/half which made for some added excitement.

Our thanks goes out to all members of the LAPL for their support, especially those that worked so hard to put on such a great event, and we are looking forward to the next one!

Summer NAPE – 2017

Downtown Houston was home to another successful Summer NAPE Expo last week at the George R. Brown Convention Center and as always the iLandMan team was in the mix. We were excited to have announced our new well data integration with TGS that Monday, and were very pleased with the response from folks stopping by the booth. Everyone was interested in learning more about this new integration and the powerful lease management automation we can provide to E&P companies.

TJ Westerhaus, Ronnie Brown, Greg Oliver, Glenn Wade, Darrel Addington, Richard Hines - Summer NAPE 2017 - iLandMan

We always look forward to meeting new people, especially from all the newly formed companies that are popping up, as well as seeing our old friends and current customers. There were a number of iLandMan clients with exhibitor booths and even more walking the expansive show floor.

Richard Hines, TJ Westerhaus, John Ratliff, Errin Bryner, Tim Supple - Summer NAPE 2017 - iLandMan

A $1,000 gift card and brand new Honda ATV were the top prizes for those attendees loyal enough to stick it out to the bitter end, and the atmosphere before the winners were chosen was electric!
