2016 LAPL Fall Educational Seminar
Last week iLandMan had the privilege of attending and also sponsoring the 2016 LAPL Fall Educational Seminar held at the Petroleum Club in Lafayette, LA. The one day event was well attended by local landmen who were instructed by oil and gas attorneys on such topics as: production in paying quantities (what is enough?), unitization and regulatory issues common in Louisiana, recent legislative and jurisprudence of interest to oil and gas landmen, the “exciting” risk fee talk, and an ethics presentation.
Special thanks goes out to Nick Wise with Liskow & Lewis; David Rogers with Gordon, Arata, McCollam, Duplantis & Egan; Joe Giglio III with Randazzo, Giglio & Bailey; Charles Blaize Jr. with Mayhall, Fondren & Blaize; Kyle Polozola with Dupuis & Polozola; Lauren Gardner and Gregory Moroux with Onebane Law Firm. We really appreciate them spending time on their preparation and presentations to the group.
Commissioner of Conservation, Richard Ieyoub also gave the attendees a state of the oil and gas industry in Louisiana from the Office of Conservation’s perspective. Everyone enjoyed the presentations, and found them very informative, containing reference materials that can be used in all aspects of land work here in Louisiana and abroad.
The educational seminar is another excellent program offered by LAPL to its members as well as non-members for educational credits for both AAPL and the Louisiana State Bar Assoc. This is all made possible by the hard work of William Brownlee – Educational Chairman, Keith Hebert – Ethics Chairman and Alex Prochaska – Special Counsel with Jones Walker. Thanks again for your efforts.
Local landmen were able to learn from the discussion, ask questions as well as network at the event, thus giving all whom attended a valuable and educational experience.
Richard Hines, CPL – Vice President – iLandMan
