2016 LAPL Fall Educational Seminar

Last week iLandMan had the privilege of attending and also sponsoring the 2016 LAPL Fall Educational Seminar held at the Petroleum Club in Lafayette, LA. The one day event was well attended by local landmen who were instructed by oil and gas attorneys on such topics as: production in paying quantities (what is enough?), unitization and regulatory issues common in Louisiana, recent legislative and jurisprudence of interest to oil and gas landmen, the “exciting” risk fee talk, and an ethics presentation.

Special thanks goes out to Nick Wise with Liskow & Lewis; David Rogers with Gordon, Arata, McCollam, Duplantis & Egan; Joe Giglio III with Randazzo, Giglio & Bailey; Charles Blaize Jr. with Mayhall, Fondren & Blaize; Kyle Polozola with Dupuis & Polozola; Lauren Gardner and Gregory Moroux with Onebane Law Firm. We really appreciate them spending time on their preparation and presentations to the group.

Matt Randazzo, Richard Ieyoub - 2016 LAPL Fall Educational Seminar - iLandMan

Commissioner of Conservation, Richard Ieyoub also gave the attendees a state of the oil and gas industry in Louisiana from the Office of Conservation’s perspective. Everyone enjoyed the presentations, and found them very informative, containing reference materials that can be used in all aspects of land work here in Louisiana and abroad.

The educational seminar is another excellent program offered by LAPL to its members as well as non-members for educational credits for both AAPL and the Louisiana State Bar Assoc. This is all made possible by the hard work of William Brownlee – Educational Chairman, Keith Hebert – Ethics Chairman and Alex Prochaska – Special Counsel with Jones Walker. Thanks again for your efforts.

Lafayette Association of Professional Landmen

Local landmen were able to learn from the discussion, ask questions as well as network at the event, thus giving all whom attended a valuable and educational experience.

2016 PBLA Eric Hanson Memorial Sporting Clay Shoot

“What a difference a month makes!” This was the consensus at the annual PBLA Eric Hanson Memorial Sporting Clay Shoot last week in Midland, TX where the cool weather was quite a pleasant surprise to everyone who came out early for the big event. The iLandMan breakfast station was wiped out of Starbucks coffee and Jumburrito breakfast goodies within an hour and the first flight of shooters were itching to get out on the course.

Shooters Having Breakfast - 2016 PBLA Sporting Clays Tournament

The first group of shooters made their rounds and began returning to the clubhouse, along with those coming in early for the afternoon flight, where they were greeted by the Transglobal Services team with some delicious Mac’s Bar-B-Q lunch waiting for them in an beautifully efficient buffet line.

Lunchline Jakes Clays - 2016 PBLA Sporting Clays Tournament

After lunch and the morning door prize raffle of over 40 guns, the afternoon shooters headed down to the course for some action. Richard and Adam joined up with David, Mark, Kelvin, and Joey of Petroplex/Midland Energy and everyone enjoyed taking their best 100 shots at some pretty tough clays on the Timberline trail.

More raffles and door prizes, along with a few kegs of ice cold beer, made for a perfect ending to this absolutely beautiful Midland day. A big thank you to our host, Jake’s Clays, and all of the participating companies, sponsors, and especially the volunteer team from the PBLA.

Look for the iLandMan team next week in booth #518 for NAPE Denver 2016 at the Colorado Convention Center.
